Additional Frequently Asked Questions

  • How old do children need to be to take classes?

Our programs are designed for a variety of age groups and experience levels. Most STEM programs are geared toward students in Grades 1–3, Grades 3–5, or ages 5 and older. Our math program serves students from grade 1 through high school, while our chess program welcomes students ages 5 and up and also offers classes for adults.

  • How do I register for classes?

Registering is simple. Visit our website and click Register to create an account. Once your account has been created, you can browse available programs, select your classes, and complete your online registration.

  • How much does a program cost?

A standard 10-week session costs $275 per class. We also offer family and multi-class discounts for students enrolled in multiple programs or families registering more than one child. Eligible discounts are automatically applied during online registration.

  • Do you offer private lessons?

Yes. Private lessons are available for many of our educational programs. Contact the appropriate department or our general office to learn more about private instruction and scheduling options.

Our hours may vary depending on classes and events. In general, we are open:

  • Do students need to bring a laptop, tablet, or other materials?

No. All required learning materials, textbooks, and computers are provided as part of your tuition. Students simply need to get ready to learn, participate, and have fun.

  • What is your policy for missed classes?

Students may schedule up to two make-up classes per session, subject to availability. When possible, students are encouraged to attend a comparable class or explore another SJIC program if their regular class meets only once per week.

  • Do parents need to stay during class?

Parents are welcome to remain in our waiting area, but they are not required to stay during class. For the safety of our students, parents or guardians who drop off their children must come inside the center when picking them up.
